Why is the company waiting until the talks of me and my coworkers forming a union before they decide to do make changes to better the workers?

As you may be aware, in September of last year, we conducted a PULSE visit, followed by an engagement survey in October. We took the feedback from both events seriously and initiated action planning to address issues raised such as overtime and equipment availability. These have been ongoing efforts since that time. We do appreciate that these changes took some time to implement fully.  Please know that we are committed to keeping an open-door approach and encourage you to use it. Whether you have ideas, concerns, or just need to talk, our doors are always open at the local and corporate level. Your feedback and insights are invaluable to us, and we believe that open communication is key to our collective success. We appreciate the opportunity to hear your voice(s) and look forward to continuously improving our processes together.

Can the facility be partially union and partially non-union?

The bargaining unit is made up of positions or job functions. If a position is part of the bargaining unit, then all of the employees in that position are included in the unit.

Would my union dues increase if I receive a pay increase?

Yes, the more you make the higher the union dues you will pay to the Teamsters. The members pay a varying monthly rate based upon how much money they earn as an employee-usually two and half times the member’s monthly rate of pay. Thus, if you receive an annual increase or an hourly rate increase due to a higher-level position, the union will increase your union dues.

If we unionize and I decide not to pay union dues, will my position still be represented by the Teamsters?

If the Teamsters represent the warehouse employees at C89, you cannot opt out of the contract controlling your position or the terms and conditions of your employment. Once a union is voted in and a contract reached, that contract covers your position whether you like it or not.

Are Employees At Other Medline Locations Represented By Unions?

At our locations throughout the Company, none of our employees have ever decided – after looking at the facts – that they want a union to represent them. No Medline site in the US is unionized.

What happens if I sign a union authorization card or petition?
